This isn't a book to someone who wants to learn Delphi. It's a book to someone who wants to make programs with something special. It's filled with tips, some with a special touch of creativity.
It's divided into five parts, each one devoted to a specific subject:
- Forms - This part shows tips about forms, like special border types, MessageDlg font modification and a chapter devoted only to MDI applications, with tricks like MDI wallpaper, menu merging or how to put a help button in the caption bar of a MDI child.
- Components - Here are shown tricks on components, like components arrays, menu manipulation and memo and richedit tricks.
- More components - Expanding last section, it gives tips about Listboxes and Comboboxes, as OwnerDrawn listboxes, using tabs in listboxes or incremental search. The chapter about grids solves very frequent questions, like coloring cells, right aligning text in a cell, put other components in a grid. Then it shows how to draw text in many angles, how to handle bitmaps, metafiles and buttons, including multiline caption drawing in buttons.
The last chapter in this part teaches about data aware controls, including how to put memos and pictures in a dbgrid.
